Welcome to BSIR 2024

What a thrill to once again begin to create the programme for the BSIR Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM)! Each year brings new experiences, lessons, highlights, and an ever-expanding evidence base that we will continue to build upon.

BSIR 2023 in Newport is still fresh in our minds, and we are inspired and motivated by the success of this meeting. BSIR 2023 served as a community gathering for interventional radiologists both from across the United Kingdom and abroad, and clearly displayed what makes our discipline so special. In all measurable terms, from attendance to the variety of session types available to the quality of the presentations, this was one of our finest meetings to date.

From our event feedback to our highlights video, it is evident that spirits were high, optimism abounded, and the enthusiasm for IR echoed palpably throughout the lecture halls. November in Newport might have been grey, but the outlook from the conference centre was sunny indeed. It was so nice to gather together again!

This year’s meeting will feature content suited for IRs at all stages of their careers. From the immensely popular Diagnosis to Discharge (D2D sessions, to the highly educational State-of-the- Art and Plenary sessions, from masterclasses to dedicated sessions for trainees and nurses, from serious scientific sessions to light-hearted quizzes, BSIR 2024 will include something for everyone.

Topic highlights at BSIR 2024 will include aortic and venous interventions, embolization, interventional oncology, non-vascular interventions, clinical effectiveness and quality improvement, and much more. The Scientific Programme Committee will meet in the spring to finalise all details, and a full programme will be available soon after.

Abstract submission will open in March, with accepted presenters being notified by mid-June. Registration will be available at the start of the summer, and we will look forward to seeing you on 6th-8th November in Brighton! We are excited to work together to make BSIR 2024 a fantastic meeting!
